A recovery scam is a second fraud directed at people who have already been defrauded. Supposed recovery firms, blockchain analysts or authorities contact victims, promise to retrieve the lost money, and demand payment in advance. No recovery follows, and the advance payments are lost as well.
The approach is frequently convincing because the caller knows details of the original case — the platform, the amount, the dates. That knowledge indicates only that data on victims is traded among perpetrators; it is a warning sign, not a credential.
